1sts XI premiership player Leigh Kentish returned to the fold as Mt Clear’s ‘marquee player’ for Sundays T20 Blast games. Leigh has since had time with Carlton in Melbourne Premier League cricket and is now coach of St Josephs in the Geelong league.
Leigh returned figures of 1/19 off 4 overs (including a rare maiden in T20) and 1/13 off 4 overs in the two games. He also made 14 and 33 opening the batting in both games.
Leigh played a pivotal role as opening batsman and opening bowler in Mt Clear’s 2007/08 premiership victory over Napoleons/Sebastopol. In that game he made 64 in the first innings total of 262 and in the tense second innings of Napoleons/Sebastopol took 2/62 off 23 overs with 6 maidens. Leigh teamed up with Mt Clear recruit Les Sandwith who was the wicketkeeper and opening batsman for Napoleons/Sebastopol in that last-ball thriller.
