Twenty/20 Bash – Week 2

Holding top place on the ladder after Week 1 Mt Clear faced North Ballarat in the first game of Week 2 of the Twenty/20 Blast competition. Matt Ward was defending his undefeated reputation as captain against former Mounties: Brett Severino, Travis Meade and ‘Marquee Player’ Michael Sheedy. Mt Clear made 3/191 off 20 with Jarrod Burns facing his former team and making 63no.  He was supported by Les Sandwith (39) and Matt Gonan (37). Mt Clear were able to strangle the North Ballarat batting line up to restrict them to 6/150cc. Former Premier League captain Sheedy led North with 77. Steve Nicholson led the bowling attack with 2/17.

Round 4 saw Mt Clear face Golden Point at White Flat. Mt Clear were sent in and Golden Point took full advantage of a turning wicket to dismiss us for 65. Grant Trevenan (14), Matthew Drain (11) and Steve Nicholson (10)  got into double figures. Golden Point made 3/94 in reply, hoping that holding wickets (combined with other results) would see them into the finals. Unfortunately they missed out.

Mt Clear look likely to face Wendouree in a semi final on December 1st.
