Turf Wicket Updates
After many years of work which has intensified over the past 8-10 months we are finally at the stage where we are ready to excavate the oval for the turf wicket. Andrew Vandebyl has done an amazing job managing the turf wicket project, using all his contacts and expertise to provide us with a 1st class turf wicket. Many hours of planning, negotiation and meetings by Andrew and the senior committee has gone into getting us to this stage.
The club would like to thank Andrew for his work and in particular thank Councillor Peter Innes for his support and energy and the City of Ballarat for their work to date. It is greatly appreciated and is a positive step to bringing the reserve to a level all users deserve. A huge thanks to Scott Illingworth of Ilingworth Plumbing for excavating the wicket area at no cost to the club. The club is very grateful. Please thank all these people when you get a chance.
- We start excavation this Friday 20 September and approximately 6-8 weeks construction will follow
- Seed will be sown around mid November
- We are aiming to play our 1st game on the turf wicket next season. What an historical day that will be for Mt Clear CC!
The club asks that all members find time to help in some manner, please. We don’t want it left to the same group to get it done so put your hand up and be part of history! Contact Andrew Vandebyl on 0409 565 686 if you can help in any way – no matter how big or small.
In October we also have the upgrade to the nets to finish too. This work will see us replacing all bowling crease matting to prevent slipping.

Turf Wicket Fundraising
Constructing a turf wicket is not cheap. This season the club needs to raise money to cover the costs of the wicket. So your opportunity to be part of history is here…. Mt Clear Cricket Club is seeking your support to bring turf to Mt Clear Oval No.1, the home of the Mounties.
For just $100 you can have you own personally engraved paver which will be featured at the Mountie clubrooms.

In addition the Turf Wicket Ball shall be held on Saturday 22 February 2014 at the Mining Exchange, Lydiard St Sth, Ballarat. See the Events page for details.
We also are running a raffle and these are available to purchase from the club now and will be sold at the Ball. $5/ticket gets you a chance to win a fantastic Aussie Cricket Legends Bar Fridge (completely stocked with your choice of drink!)
