PROFILE:
Sam is one of the Mount Clear Cricket Club's most decorated junior players, winning a total of five awards and captaining four teams in his junior career. He has been the club's most outstanding junior over the last decade, constantly being chosen to play in junior representative games. He scored a century for the Central Highlands team in the prestigious Under 16 Dowling Shield carnival in season 2004/2005. Sam is already a veteran of 8 seasons of senior cricket, not a bad effort for someone who has not yet celebrated their 21st birthday.

Sam has had some excellent scores with the bat, scoring 4 centuries to date in senior cricket, including a hundred in the 4th XI Grand Final in season 2003/2004 as a 15 year old. Last season against Darley he knocked up his maiden 1st XI ton (100 not out). Sam bought up the ton in the last over of the day and shared in an 8th wicket record partnership with Leigh Kentish of 112. It was an innings that proved that Sam belonged in the 1st XI and cemented his place in the team that went on to win the flag.

Sam's bowling has not been his focus in the last few seasons. Once he was a tearaway out-swing bowler, even taking the new ball in the 2nd XI, but a lack of opportunity means now that Sam has been reduced to a reluctant nets bowler. Sam spent some time playing cricket in Scotland for the Glasgow Accies in the Scottish Premier League. It took a while for Sam to adjust to the slower pitches only making 1 score above 50 (67 vs St Michaels), but by all accounts Sam had no trouble adjusting to the Glasgow nightlife.
